In hydraulic engineering, a nautical structure, refers to a work in the immediate vicinity of a waterway. This can be a bridge over or a tunnel under a canal, a lock to overcome height differences, a boat lift to overcome a significant height difference. But also aqueducts, canal bridges, culverts, watersupply canals, weirs, and their associated reservoirs are all considered as nautical structures.
